John Reiners
Chadron State College
Assistant Football Coach
2007 -- John Reiners is another coach who is definitely familiar with the Chadron State football program. This will be the 19th season that he has been involved, either as a player or a coach. He works with the running backs.
Although he was never a starter, he earned four letters as a wide receiver for the Eagles. He then served one year as a student assistant coach, two years as a graduate assistant and is now in his 10th season as an assistant. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CSC.
Reiners, 36, is also the Eagles’ head track and field coach and has greatly improved that program. Since he took over in 1998, CSC athletes have earned All-American honors 35 times and have set 29 school records both indoors and outdoors.
A graduate of Republican Valley High School at Indianola, Neb., he was a football standout and won the Class C 800 meters at the Nebraska State High School Track and Field Meet as a senior in 1989 in 1:56.69. He ran track one year at CSC before concentrating on football.
John is married to the former Jennifer Vasey, a native of Laramie, Wyo., who is one of Chadron State’s all-time great volleyball players. She teaches and coaches in the Chadron Public Schools.
They have a nine-year-old son, Dylan, a six-year-old daughter, Ashtyn, one-year-old daughter, Addi, and five-month-old daughter Kali.
